Working together

Invite someone into a workspace and keep working. Their pointer appears with their name. Their caret and recent edits use the same colour in the word processor, notes, file manager and ebook reader.

You share the work, not the rest of your screen.

Work independently in the same place

Participants can read different pages, use different apps and move through the workspace without fighting over one camera view. A mark in navigation shows where someone is working; an edge cue shows when they are just out of view.

Select Follow when another participant is demonstrating something. Their navigation and scroll position guide your view while your own pointer remains yours. Leave Follow by navigating on your own.

Presence answers “where is the person I am working with?” It is not an attendance system. Pointer movement does not become a productivity score, and being idle does not become a management claim.

Collaboration sits below apps

Native apps share structured state. Each participant runs the app locally, so the interface stays responsive and everyone can continue while disconnected. The desktop supplies presence, sync, authorship, history and permissions once.

For a normal Linux app that does not expose structured state, the host streams the app’s surfaces to the other participants. The difference stays visible: watching a surface, controlling the host’s app and editing a native shared item are three different levels of access.

Remote input is separate

Giving someone control of a hosted app does not give them a keyboard attached to your whole session. Remote input is a separate, temporary permission, stays visible while active and has one immediate Stop remote control action. Local input always wins.

Work offline

Changes save locally first. When participants or their devices reconnect, independent edits merge. If two changes cannot be combined safely, the desktop shows the affected content and authors instead of hiding the problem behind “sync failed.”

Saved on this device and available to everyone are different facts, and the sync state uses those words.
