Reference and guides
Documentation
Installation and operating guides for Tilo, followed by reference pages for the desktop, application model, collaboration, permissions, storage and security. Pages distinguish the current alpha implementation from behaviour that is only designed.
Get started
Choose a virtual machine, existing Linux session, dual boot or replacement. The guide opens the relevant commands and disk-safety checks in place.
Set up the desktopConfigure the device, learn strips and workspaces, choose apps, set sharing boundaries and prove recovery.
Run it in a virtual machineBoot the verified raw installer with an isolated blank virtual disk, then remove it cleanly.
Install from WindowsWrite and verify the USB, prepare safe partitions, and choose dual boot or replacement.
Your first workspaceCreate a workspace, add real work, invite somebody, choose a permission and inspect what changed.
Product conceptsWorkspace, strip, resource, action, identity, host and the other terms used by the reference pages.
Installation and recovery
Package command, sign-in session, update, removal and the parts still managed by Fedora.
Add the desktop to Ubuntu or DebianRepository and package steps, display-manager choice, update, removal and switching back.
Add the desktop to Arch LinuxSupported package group, full-upgrade requirement, display manager, update and removal.
Add the desktop with NixSystem and user modules, rebuild commands, generations and rollback.
Install, recover, or removeChoose an installation, prepare a live USB, copy files from an unbootable system, or safely remove an alongside installation.
TroubleshootingProtect work first, then diagnose VM, live USB, sign-in, network, sync and application failures.
Desktop and applications
Complete and partial replicas, hosts, local and shared work, strips, people and workspace boundaries.
Applications, resources and filesNative resources and actions, normal Linux applications, file hand-off and application ownership.
Develop a native applicationDefine a resource, make its changes deterministic actions, and follow the running Notes, Maps and toolkit examples.
Windows applicationsWine, Proton and the side-by-side Windows VM; route selection, files, devices and known limits.
History, undo and restoreRecorded actions, attribution, structured changes, undo boundaries and version restoration.
Files, sync and ownershipLocal and remote state, cache behaviour, sync versus backup, export and what survives removing an app.
Collaboration and access control
Native replicated state, streamed Linux applications, following, presence, hosts and offline behaviour.
PermissionsSubjects, file and action scopes, grant lifetimes, implicit hand-off, review and revocation semantics.
People and agentsIdentity, agent labelling, effective authority, action attribution and remote-input separation.
Security and system operation
Identity chain, TPM role, boot and disk protection, system unlock, app confinement, collaboration checks, attestation limits and implementation status.
Trust and safetyInstallation scope, device recovery, remote input, diagnostics, standing access and the boundaries visible in the interface.
Verify a releaseImage signature, checksum, release key and the failure cases that must stop installation.
Data portabilityCopy, export, workspace archive, backup, deletion and the data that another participant may still hold.
Desktop setup checklistValidate hardware, preferences, applications, sharing boundaries and recovery before relying on Tilo.
