Struct ModalDialog
pub struct ModalDialog<C>{ /* private fields */ }Expand description
A modal dialog: a title, any content widget, and up to three footer
actions, over a scrim that covers the window. Generic over the content
type so callers pass any Widget without boxing.
Mounted in a retained tree, the content is laid out in the host’s own
tree: a click on a field focuses it (and blurs the previous one), Tab
runs through the content and then the footer actions inside the focus
trap, and opening the dialog focuses its first control. A painted host
that keeps the dialog outside its tree routes events with
Self::handle_detached; the dialog then lays its content out itself.
Implementations§

C: Widget + 'static,
impl<C> ModalDialog<C>where
C: Widget + 'static,
pub fn new(title: impl Into<String>, content: C) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn set_anchor(&mut self, anchor: Option<Rect>)
pub fn set_anchor(&mut self, anchor: Option<Rect>)
Stand beside the control at anchor as a popover, the window undimmed, rather than over the
window’s centre; None centres it.
pub fn with_foot_sheet(self) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_foot_sheet(self) -> ModalDialog<C>
On a compact window, rise from its foot as a super::BottomSheet when that fits; else
stay the whole page.
pub fn with_icon(self, icon: Icon) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_icon(self, icon: Icon) -> ModalDialog<C>
An icon before the title naming who asks.
pub fn set_icon(&mut self, icon: Option<Icon>)
pub fn set_icon(&mut self, icon: Option<Icon>)
Self::with_icon after construction; None takes it away.
pub fn with_header(self, header: impl Widget + 'static) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_header(self, header: impl Widget + 'static) -> ModalDialog<C>
A strip of the sheet’s own below the title, staying put while the body scrolls under it, so the tabs or the path a person is deep in stay in view.
pub fn set_header(&mut self, header: Option<Box<dyn Widget>>)
pub fn set_header(&mut self, header: Option<Box<dyn Widget>>)
Self::with_header after construction; None removes it.
pub fn with_description(self, description: impl Into<String>) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_description(self, description: impl Into<String>) -> ModalDialog<C>
What assistive technology says about the dialog after its title: what is going on in it, and how its keys work.
pub fn set_description(&mut self, description: Option<String>)
pub fn set_description(&mut self, description: Option<String>)
Self::with_description after construction; None takes it away.
pub fn set_title(&mut self, title: impl Into<String>)
pub fn set_title(&mut self, title: impl Into<String>)
What the dialog is, as its title: the question it asks.
pub fn with_test_id(self, id: impl Into<String>) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_test_id(self, id: impl Into<String>) -> ModalDialog<C>
A stable address for inspection, headless scenarios and tilo-control.
pub fn open(self, open: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn open(self, open: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
When closed, the dialog paints nothing and ignores input.
pub fn appearing(self, appearance: Appearance) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn appearing(self, appearance: Appearance) -> ModalDialog<C>
Draw this dialog on appearance, which the host keeps across rebuilds: built open it
arrives once, and a dialog its host closes leaves until it is gone.
pub fn set_open(&mut self, open: bool)
pub fn set_open(&mut self, open: bool)
Show or hide after construction, which also toggles whether the dialog traps focus; opening scrolls the body to its top and lets the host focus its first control.
pub fn primary_action(
self,
label: impl Into<String>,
on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static,
) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn primary_action( self, label: impl Into<String>, on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static, ) -> ModalDialog<C>
The main action, the inverted button. Enter fires it unless it is destructive, when Enter is Cancel.
pub fn set_primary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
pub fn set_primary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
Self::primary_action after construction; None takes it away.
pub fn secondary_action(
self,
label: impl Into<String>,
on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static,
) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn secondary_action( self, label: impl Into<String>, on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static, ) -> ModalDialog<C>
The other action, usually Cancel. Escape fires it when the dialog
has no Self::on_dismiss.
pub fn set_secondary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
pub fn set_secondary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
Self::secondary_action after construction; None takes it away.
pub fn tertiary_action(
self,
label: impl Into<String>,
on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static,
) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn tertiary_action( self, label: impl Into<String>, on_click: impl FnMut() + 'static, ) -> ModalDialog<C>
A third answer for a three-way question (Save / Don’t save / Cancel), standing apart from the other two; Enter never fires it.
pub fn set_tertiary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
pub fn set_tertiary_action(&mut self, action: Option<DialogAction>)
Self::tertiary_action after construction; None takes it away.
pub fn with_destructive_tertiary(self, on: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_destructive_tertiary(self, on: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
The tertiary action discards something (“Don’t save”): danger ink on a neutral control.
pub fn with_destructive(self, on: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_destructive(self, on: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
The primary action deletes, revokes or discards: as on macOS, Enter is then the safe answer (Cancel) and the sheet opens with the keyboard there.
pub fn set_destructive(&mut self, on: bool)
pub fn set_destructive(&mut self, on: bool)
Self::with_destructive after construction.
pub fn set_primary_enabled(&mut self, enabled: bool)
pub fn set_primary_enabled(&mut self, enabled: bool)
Whether the primary action can be taken: dimmed, announced as disabled and out of the focus order when not, and Enter does not fire it.
pub fn with_primary_enabled(self, enabled: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_primary_enabled(self, enabled: bool) -> ModalDialog<C>
Self::set_primary_enabled on construction.
pub fn set_primary_gate(&mut self, gate: Option<Box<dyn Fn(&C) -> bool>>)
pub fn set_primary_gate(&mut self, gate: Option<Box<dyn Fn(&C) -> bool>>)
Replace the gate Self::primary_enabled_if installed, or take it away.
pub fn primary_enabled_if(
self,
gate: impl Fn(&C) -> bool + 'static,
) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn primary_enabled_if( self, gate: impl Fn(&C) -> bool + 'static, ) -> ModalDialog<C>
Enable the primary action only while gate holds, read every time the sheet is painted,
announced or fired: a confirmation waiting for a typed phrase, a form waiting for a valid
value.
pub fn set_primary_label(&mut self, label: impl Into<String>)
pub fn set_primary_label(&mut self, label: impl Into<String>)
The primary action’s label, for an action whose name follows the content (“Delete 3 photos”).
pub fn with_max_width(self, max_width: f64) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn with_max_width(self, max_width: f64) -> ModalDialog<C>
Widest the sheet is drawn, in design pixels (default
MODAL_MAX_WIDTH). Its height always follows its content.
pub fn set_max_width(&mut self, max_width: f64)
pub fn set_max_width(&mut self, max_width: f64)
Self::with_max_width after construction.
pub fn content(&self) -> &C
pub fn content_mut(&mut self) -> &mut C
pub fn primary_enabled(&self) -> bool
pub fn primary_enabled(&self) -> bool
Whether the primary action can be taken now.
§impl<C> ModalDialog<C>
impl<C> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn invalidate_layout(&mut self)
pub fn invalidate_layout(&mut self)
Measure and place the content again: call after a change that alters its size without changing its structure.
pub fn dialog_rect(&self) -> Rect
pub fn primary_rect(&self) -> Rect
pub fn secondary_rect(&self) -> Rect
pub fn tertiary_rect(&self) -> Rect
pub fn close_rect(&self) -> Option<Rect>
pub fn close_rect(&self) -> Option<Rect>
The close control, when the dialog shows one.
pub fn header_rect(&self) -> Option<Rect>
pub fn header_rect(&self) -> Option<Rect>
The sheet’s own header, when it has one.
pub fn scroll_offset(&self) -> f64
pub fn scroll_offset(&self) -> f64
How far the body is scrolled.
pub fn is_open(&self) -> bool
pub fn is_drawn(&self) -> bool
pub fn is_drawn(&self) -> bool
Whether anything of it is drawn now: open, arriving, or closed and still leaving.
pub fn appear_progress(&self) -> f64
pub fn appear_progress(&self) -> f64
How far it has arrived now, 0..=1 (motion::Appear).

path: &ExId,
) -> bool
pub fn handle_detached( &mut self, event: &WindowEvent, scale_factor: f64, modifiers: Modifiers, state: &mut Edits<'_>, path: &ExId, ) -> bool
Route an event to a dialog that a painted host owns outside its
retained layout tree (it still reaches the dialog’s top-layer paint
through Widget::children_mut).
§impl<C> ModalDialog<C>where
C: Widget + 'static,
impl<C> ModalDialog<C>where

F: FnMut() + 'static,
pub fn on_dismiss<F>(self, f: F) -> ModalDialog<C>where
F: FnMut() + 'static,
Fires on Escape, on a scrim click and on the close control. A dialog with a dismiss handler and no secondary action shows the close control.
Dismissal is the dialog’s close control: a view action of control
<test id>.close (the title stands in for a dialog without a test
id), which every way of dismissing goes through, so agents and
scripts close the dialog as a person does.
pub fn set_on_dismiss(&mut self, f: Option<Box<dyn FnMut()>>)
pub fn set_on_dismiss(&mut self, f: Option<Box<dyn FnMut()>>)
Self::on_dismiss after construction; None takes the close control away.
pub fn dismiss_action(self, binding: ActionBinding<()>) -> ModalDialog<C>
pub fn dismiss_action(self, binding: ActionBinding<()>) -> ModalDialog<C>
Dismiss through binding, an action the app or host already
publishes (“Keep editing”, “Cancel”), instead of a close control of
the dialog’s own.
impl ModalDialog<dyn Widget>
The dialog’s close control as the host reaches it, compiled once for
every content type: each ModalDialog<C> capability forwards here.

fn for_each_layout_child(&self, visitor: &mut dyn FnMut(&dyn Widget)) -> bool
Self::build_layout gives a layout node,
also those Self::for_each_child keeps from routing (a hidden
pane, a title, a spacer). A retained layout is checked against this
walk before it is called through again, so a widget that replaced a
child without reporting it gets a new layout instead of a call into
freed memory. A child missing here cannot be checked, so debug builds
stop on it. A wrapper that stands for its inner widget’s node visits
the inner widget itself. Read morefn children_mut(&mut self) -> Vec<&mut dyn Widget>

point is logical coords, same space as Widget::get_rect;

fn take_focus_request(&mut self) -> Option<String>

fn accessibility_root(&self) -> Option<AccessNode>
Self::accessibility’s own node with its children left empty:
its role, identity (semantic_key) and state. Focus capture and focus

children entry is already

fn take_structure_change(&mut self) -> StructureChange
Self::take_structure_dirty, saying whether the frame’s damage can
still describe the rebuild (StructureChange::Described). Reading
clears what take_structure_dirty clears; the two must agree on
whether there is a change. The default is the flag, as
a StructureChange::Rebuild: only a widget that knows every pixel its
change touches lands in its own damage says less, and a container
forwards a child’s StructureChange::Described only by overriding
this.§fn remount_children(&mut self, remount: &mut Remount<'_>) -> bool
fn remount_children(&mut self, remount: &mut Remount<'_>) -> bool
StructureChange::Children this widget or one under it

remount). Returns false when it cannot be
carried out in place: the host then rebuilds its tree, and the change
is carried out by Self::build_layout. A widget reports such a
