Module own_paint 

What a widget paints itself, kept from one frame to the next, so the frame damages the widget’s box only when it painted differently: a hover in a window’s sidebar leaves a file list, a calendar’s month or a path bar beside it as they were, and repaints none of them.

For a widget that paints its box in one pass and cannot say what in it changed. A widget that can (a list that knows its rows) damages less by saying so itself.
